Track of the Day: The Soil & the Sun – Wheat-Germ Mother

Merrijoy July 9, 2012 in our ears, News No Comments

Our Track of the Day belongs to The Soil & the Sun from Grand Rapids, MI. The song is “Wheat-Germ Mother” off of their debut record Wake Up, Child.

Here’s what lead singer Alex McGrath had to say about the track, “One time, my friend Chad and I went for a walk around the woods near my childhood home.  It was just before sunset when we came upon a huge clearing of wild grass, and the deer were jumping in and out of sight like dolphins in the sea.  We chased them, and as the wind blew a giant dogwood tree its petals gently wafted down onto us.  Then we walked through the creek all the way back to the house.  It was all very beautiful and surreal, and this song is an attempt to invoke the feelings that I feel when remembering that day.”
